有朋友說我是「悲春傷秋」的人，嚇了我一跳。吓？我給人的印像當真如此？也有同學形容我與其他議員「有點不同，多點實在的人氣」！但又有同事兼黨友不時勸勉我：「做議員不應渲泄感情，被人覺得你多愁善感不是好事！」當真？原來議員不應有感受、沒有喜怒哀樂？
首先，我從政之前(03年)已開始寫作。但更重要的是，開始寫專欄之後，我發現了連我自己也從不認識的一面。我發覺有些我說不出的感受，原來可以透過書寫暢所欲言；有些說話，說了出來是可舒懷解困、令我的生命更形充實的。
或許你會說，這看法有點自我、有點與議員的身份不相符；但我從來不是把仕途放在第一位的人，又何須為這些觀點費神！更重要的是，一向認為太緊張形像的從政者，不但缺乏想像力，更不經意地把自己的前途放在信念和原則之前，縱是多成功，也得不到我的專重和信任。所以，對不起！我始終是我；我不感到驕傲，也不覺需要為自己辯護或道歉！

Of course, you are who you are. Everyone is an unique individual and enjoy being yourself, who said you can't be a sentimental politician!
It is important, whether a politician or not, to be true to yourself and to stand up for the principles and values you believe in, but not to sit on the fence and to sway with the crowd's sentiment. A great politician is a leader who leads and guides the general public and has no fear for some groundless criticism. It takes a great person to truly shine amongst those so-called politicians who only wish to appease the crowd and the media, or to attract attention. It is a lonely role but please do continue to be a true and great politician, that is what you are.
Wow! Not sure I deserve all that! But I constantly remind myself not to overrate myself and let all this media interest in you get into your head because the moment you do that you become defensive of your position and you are on a slippery slope. I may not succeed. But at least I am willing to try.

Dear Circle, 恐怕你有所誤會。首先，家暴條例修訂，並非我本人單獨提出，而是所有泛民主派因應社會公義、基本人權和民間要求向政府提出建議的。事實上，在上屆選舉中，所有泛民主派候選人包括黄成智議員在內也有就此修訂向所有選民作出選舉諾支持這修訂。
如果你有機會了解建議條文的話，你會發覺條文只會保障人身安全而不會令同性戀者有任何法律認許的地位。喜歡與否、有沒有法律保障人身安全也好，在現實生活裏同性戀是存在的。我們不能，亦不應說因為他們是同性戀者，所以不給予他們法律保護。我明白到這議題在社會是有爭論的，而社會討論也未趨成熟，但身為民選議員，我的責任是是其是，非其非。若我為推動社會公義、法治人權和爭取民主的工作不為這社會接受，我是樂意放棄我的政治工作而重返法律界為香港人服務的。多謝你的意見！
我也很尊重Circle 的意見，但為何，對一位議員的看法，只憑他在這條款的政見，而不去看他整體的政績和他為大眾的付出，就輕易否定他呢！其實，湯議員也解釋了這條款，絕對不是在鼓勵同性戀的合法配偶身份，他和很多其他議員，只是想在這條例中，保護更多人，這又有何不對呢！
最近，科學更發現，同性戀可能是天生的，那樣，他們有可能是無可選擇地，而成為同性戀者，我們更不應歧視他們啦！因為如果神愛世人，我相信祂也愛這些同性戀者！
