民建聯主席馬力上週去世，享年五十五歲，比我還年輕一年。近年來，也有我認識的朋友捨我己去，有的也比我年輕，能不慨嘆生命的短暫、無奈？
在巴黎羅浮宮看到這幅法國名畫家格岳年(Guerin)的「式士達的回來」(Return of Marcus Sextus)。畫中主角是一名愛國的羅馬勇將，可借不為朝廷所用，回家後更發覺愛妻剛去世，連最後一面也見不到。這是愛國的代價？畫中人物的那種哀痛無奈，被表達得淋漓盡致，感染力極為逼人。特別那失去生命力的妻子，刻畫得真實動人。這可也是從政爭取民主的人面對的悲哀？

I guess we all become sentimental when friends or people around us pass away.
Fighting for democracy and humanity is never easy but please don't compromise your beliefs, you are not alone as we are here to stand by you.
Thank you! But I always say this is not a personal cause but a cause shared by everyone. So standing by me is not sufficient. We need all of you to contribute to the cause in whatever way.
